City residents are urged to sign up now as some programs tend to fill up quickly, officials said this week.
“Our summer recreation programs are designed to enable our residents of all ages to strengthen their minds and bodies, enjoy the vacation season, start new hobbies, and learn new skills," Mayor Ras Baraka said in a statement.
Camp Watershed at the city’s Pequannock Watershed in West Milford is a day camp that runs for two sessions over seven weeks (one session for four weeks, one for three) that offers Newark youth nature walks as well as programs in dance, drama, visual arts, archery, and arts and crafts. All summer camp programs will run from July 8 to August 23. For more information, call (973) 697-9018.
Recreation programs will include:
· Enrichment day camps for youth at recreation sites
· Basketball Leagues for ages 7-14
· Boxing camps for ages 7-14
· Basketball Camps that teach drills and skills to youth aged 7-14

The Centers of Hope will offer the following:
· Summer Day Camps at two Center of Hope locations
· Pop Up Play Areas at “Summer of Fun” designated play street sites
· Movie Nights
